Trying to salvage a transmission

I just got a 2002 Cadillac STS and need to replace the transmission. I was hoping to salvage it from the junk yard but I need to know which other cars I can get it from if the junkyard doesn't have the same car as mines available.

Call the salvage yard. They should be able to locate the correct transmission for your vehicle. You want to use the same year and application. They made changes with gear ratios and valve body designs in different years and applications.
