Transfer case problem???????

Not sure what the problem is that our 1995 f150 4x4 auto truck is having. It is making a grinding noise while driving when you take your foot off the gas. Just yesterday it started making the grinding noise just sitting in the driveway. Tried to put it in reverse but no reverse! Messed with turning the auto 4 wheel drive on and off then pushed in the low range 4 wheel drive. It then made it so it would go in reverse. The grinding sounds like it is coming from the transfer case. Does anyone know what my problem might be? The transmission was replaced along with the engine about 10-15,000 miles ago. Thanks!
