Can someone here refer me to this info? - the automatic trans fluid capacity for a 2004 Dodge Ram diesel 3500 PU. Can't find anything on the web, including Dodge site. My owner's manual also doesn't have this info. Actually just need to know the approx. amount it takes to change the fluid & filter. Also, is Dexron II the correct fluid? Thanks.

I'm shocked this info isn't in your owner's manual. At least the type! The dipstick may say the type of fluid used on the stick. Perhaps that's because if you are changing fluid, filter and gasket you didn't get all the fluid.

I measure what comes out when it doubt but leave it a bit short and keep checking when done till right, T

Re: Trans info Sign In

Thanks, Dan and Tom, just the info I needed. Wasn't sure if Dexron and ATF+4 were the same or not. Worlds apart I guess, with ATF+4 evidently being totally synthetic. Yes, my manual did recommend ATF+4 but gave no info as to trans capacity. Guess I'll get all my stuff from the dealer, just to be safe. Thanks again, appreciate it.

Re: Trans info Sign In

The owner's manual should give you the capacities. As far as I know, Dexron II is NOT the fluid to use. Call the Dodge dealer near you, I believe it is a synthetic oil and Dexron will cause trouble down the road.

P.S. If the capacities are not listed, the Dodge parts or service dept. should be able to give you that info.

Steve
