Strange noise when shifting into 2nd

1994 Chevy Caprice C9
5.7L and 206k miles
Hello, I took my car to the Midas because I smelt gas and fuel consumption was high. They said it was my intake manifold gasket althought car ran smoothly with no smoke or other smells. They replaced my intake gasket, throttle gasket, plugs and wires. Told me about that relearn stuff and that it will idle high for awhile. But the car would throw itself forward and backwards inbetween gears, and it would make a squeak sound with hesitation inbetween shifts while also throwing itself forward. I drove it for almost 2 weeks like they told me, problem wasn't fixed so I took it back. This time they replaced the IAC motor and the TP sensor. And viola, car is back to normal. Almost. It makes a grinding noise while shifting into second now and has made that sound after the latest repair but has never made that sound before I took it to Midas. What do you think it could be?

Do you have any noise in first that maybe goes away when it shifts to 2nd. Gary

No, no noises in any gear except 2nd. More like a whoot/grinding sound that is louder the slower I accelerate and quieter the faster I accelerate

I repeat no noises in any gear except 2nd.

I would have the car road tested by a trans shop, normally if there is an issue with the trans, the pitch of the noise would change with engine rpm( higher rpm higher pitch). Gary
