I took my Toyota pickup in for a clutch job and the shop told me they would need to bleed my brakes ($120) ?? I told the guy my brakes are fine. My brakes are completely separate from the clutch system. There is no reason to bleed my brakes. I told them just put in a new clutch kit and flywheel and replace the slave cylinder! (nothing else without my authorization). And, leave my brakes alone. Am I right? 1992 Toyota Pickup Truck standard 5-speed; ½ ton 4x4; 4 cylinder; 2.4 L; 22re About 100,000 miles

It appears you clutch master has it's own reservoir and doesn't share anything with the brake master so it appears you are correct. I don't know why they wanted to do that other than maybe just a maintenance fluid flush which would definitely be a good idea with the age of that vehicle.. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Thanks Hammer Time. Thanks for confirming - two completely separate systems; no need to bleed! I've had thus truck for about 20 years; do my own brake-work and bleed. If they charge for a bleed after I told the guy "No" - to leave my brakes alone - I will dispute.

You posted your answer twice.
