Hello, I just got a 2002 Liberty from my mother and I took it in to a transmission place to get a transmission flush. I mentioned that it has been revving a bit when you start it in cold weather. After doing some diagnostics they found a T-case leak and say it is going to cost $1000-$1800 to fix! I find it a little coincidental that I happened to take it into a transmission specialist because I had a coupon for a flush and they find something seriously wrong with the transmission. How do i get a 2nd opinion without letting on what was previously found? Any suggestions? Is this BS?

Let everyone in on the fact that you want a second opinion; it’s a lot of money; you don’t really know the first people, so why wouldn’t you get a second opinion; it would be foolish not too.
I run my own repair shop and I have no problem with people doing this, I do charge for the inspection and offer the incentive of reimbursing the inspection charge, if the vehicle is brought back for the repair. The only other thing I would suggest is to not let the second place know the first place’s estimate of the cost; it’s too easy to undercut the pricing to get the job. Which at first may sound great for you but will the quality of the work be the same, if they have to find that lost revenue? As in installing lower quality parts or cutting corners to save on time.
Please believe me when I say that the cheaper repair isn't always the proper one; make sure you're comparing apples too apples.
