Nissan n16 2005 wont shift to higher gears

Hi,
The automatic transmission of my 2005 Nissan N16 which has run about 60000 miles(100000Km) acts weird sometimes. Sometimes it does not shift to the higher gears. And when it happens, when I try to start the engine O/D off indicator flashes for about 15 times. Also when it happens, if I turn on the turn signals, they blink very rapidly than the normal blink rate?
The problems does not come all the time. It appears if I drive for about 50Km. And if I switch off the vehicle and let it cool for about 15 mins sometimes the problem is gone for another 5~6 miles.
Any ideas on what the problem is?

The overdrive light flashing means there are codes stored in the TCM concerning the transmission. You need a professional scan to to be able to access the particular codes. You may have an intermittent speed sensor or something like that.

Hello,
Question, do you seem to loose the higher gears when the car gets hot? With the light flashing as HT said, you have a code stored. Gary

That is odd, Tom. I'd scan for TCM codes first.
Are both left and right turn signal indicators flashing rapidly when this occurs. When the turn signals are flashing rapidly, have you check to see if there are any turn bulbs out? Maybe a ground or something is shared by the turn signals and transmission electrical circuits somehow.
