Sign In Hi , Mazda 3 2012 Skyactive Automatic 4 doors Having an hard time detect correct position of the shifter. I need to play with the shifter stick for the car to be be able to detect if in PARK , BACK , DRIVE or NEUTRAL position. Stick seems to be loose also. How to confirm ? Sign In If the stick seems loose then there is likely some linkage loose or worn out. You will find the answer when you open the console and look at it to see where the movement is. Sign In Hi , Tks for you reply. I had adjust the cable a bit on the shifter side , help but not 100%. I removed the air filter and was able to see the other end of the cable to the transmission but did not see the neutral switch . I can see cable moving correctly , even put some lubrifiant . Possible the neutral Switch is on the shifter side ? Sign In I don't know what you mean by "adjusted the cable". Most of these cables are not adjustable. The linkage just gets worn out so the shifter moves without the other end of the cable responding. This is usually due to worn or missing bushings.
