Leaky tranny dip stick Sign In

My 2001 Ford Taurus automatic transmission has fluid coming out of the dip stick. The tranny filter and oil have been changed 4000 miles ago. What gives?

There should be a seal on the dipstick itself. Hope it's that simple, T

Thanks for the idea but the dipstick seal is fine. Someone mentioned a blocked vent hole on top of the tranny.

Hmmm. I've never seen a bad one but what the heck -- check it out. TMK all trans and gearcases are meant to be at atmospheric pressure.

I have had engines make positive pressure (should be slight vacuum) and they leak oil because of that, T
