Honda Accord, engine light on, won't go past 30 mph, speedometer not working, drive light blinking Sign In

Hello Everyone

I have a 2005 Accord Ex with 37000 miles on.

Today, When I started the engine, I noticed that, the engine light came on. When I put in drive mode, the light started blinking. Also, I noticed that speedometer and odometer are not working. And I could not go past 30 mph (I think it is not going beyond 2nd gear).

I really had no clue what might be wrong so I took it to Honda dealer and they are still trying to find what the problem is?

Does any one had this problem before. The car has maintained very good. Just had whole engine tune up I think 3000 miles ago as suggested in the manual.

Could anyone please reply with what might be wrong and if it is a major transmission issue that will cost me thousands? I just ran out of warranty for hell sake.

Thanks
F

With age and miles it could just be a speed sensor problem. If at dealer now they should get a good code reading to direct then to the touble with "engine" light on there's a code with info waiting.

Hey - if you are just 1,000 miles over on warranty and within time or close ASK about getting this covered as a warranty claim........
