Gear Oil in Automatic Transmission

I regrettably put a quart of gear oil in an 02 Chevy pickup with automatic transmission. What to do now?

Warm up your credit cards. You are going to need them.
If you haven't driven it yet you can drop the pan but if you have you are going to have problems.
Gary will be chiming in here with more specific info.

Then either drop the pan right where it sits or have it towed to the shop to do it.

A mechanic suggested diluting it with paint thinner then dropping the pan. Can you please comment on that.

You need a different mechanic.
If the engine hasn't been run it is all sitting in the bottom of the pan. Remove the pan and them wash it.

The engine did run, for a few minutes, but the truck was not driven..

That means it could be circulated. All you can do is first drop the pan and refill it and them do a complete exchange with a machine. You still may have problems.

Hello,
I would drop the pan, put it back up, new trans fluid, run it down the block and drop the pan again, refill with new fluid, not much more you can do. Gary
