hello, i have a 1991 pontiac firebird formula. Today when i was driving it, sometime in the middle of my drive when i was pushing the gas pedal, the car stopped accelerating and began slowing down. No matter how much i pressed the pedal it wasnt doing anything. I had to turn the engine off and restart it several times on the way home. Why is my car doing this? is it a transmission or some other problem? The service engine soon light has been coming on randomly as well.

More likely the engine causing stalling. Get a code reading now if you can as there's something it wants to tell you,
