On my way home from work, the engine on my 2007 Buick Lucerne started sputtering whenever I'd press the gas pedal after coming to a complete stop. Then in front of a red light, the car wouldn’t move at all despite the engine revving up when I pressed the gas as a result of the engine overheating, so I ended up having to put the car in neutral to park it at a gas station across the street and called a tow truck to get it home. The car can still go in reverse but not in drive. The Coolant Temperature Low Indication Light also comes on.

I don't know what you are expecting to happen here. You cooked the engine to the point that it would not run any further which it sounds like also did transmission damage. I don't think this is going to be a DIY repair. Have it towed to a competent shop and see what they find. You could be looking at a new motor and transmission by driving it that far. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Hello, If by chance your engine is ok, but your car will still not move forward that is because the 1-2 band is broken, this will happen suddenly and not affect reverse, this is a very common problem with this trans. Gary
