Linkage if external should be checked or take a peek where you removed the shifter for anything obvious. Where I live there are so few STD trans vehicles there's no way I would know much more. New clutch 6 months ago alone probably not the problem but letting a trans hang by input shaft till snugged up can cause assorted troubles just not usually this late? The rubber plugs on top of the transmissions on those get hard and shrink with age. The transmission fluid gets slung out and eventually the transmission seizes up. Check the fluid level in the transmission. If it is low, drain the fluid and see if it grey with metal. If so, don't waste your time with trying to fix it.
