i replaced my radiator and at the time the only one I could find didnt have the cooling line for the transmission going in or out so i hooked those two together. shortly after I have no reverse, no overdrive, and when shifting from 1st to 2nd I have to rev up rpms then let off the gas to shift to second. Could this be a speed sensor (rear) gone bad? or is my tranny burnt?

Bypassing the radiator alone should not be the immediate problem. Is trans fluid full? Does that loop/connection flow thru the lines?

If this just happened exactly with the radiator replacement then look for anything that was disturbed in doing that,

i never noticed any problems with my trans before that. Yes the fluid is full. last time I changed it, i found a litlle c ring in the pan. What do you mean does it go throgh that loop?

"Thru the loop" : I meant when you connected the two trans lines together instead of thru the radiator does that allow the fluid to flow through? I'm really not sure what the radiator ends look like on this and they may be check valved when not connected. Most of the times I've bypassed the radiator was to get a vehicle usable again when the lines were too rusted to use or they rubbed somewhere and I just used fuel line to make the loop if I wasn't able to fix it completely that day or a customer needed that vehicle back if at all possible till later.

Don't like the sound of finding a "c" clip in the pan?? It might have been holding a plug so fluid didn't go out the dipstick before the dipstick was installed during a manufacturing process when new. I have a collection of little fishing like bobbers from some now older Ford trannies that sealed the tube and were meant to just fall into the pan when ready for the dipstick.

Note: I've avoided calling the lines cooling lines as I find them on the warmer tank end of some so the purpose is really temperature moderation not just the cooler the better is what I figure,
