So I checked and no I was in reverse but no reverse. Luckily I had enough momentum to make it out of the space. I put it into drive and drove it home, no problems through all of the gears. Then the check engine light came on and it reads codes p0732, p0733, p0734, p0736. The code varies depending on how fast I drive the car. If it has to shift a lot it will go into fail safe mode and lock into 3rd gear. The codes translate into input output sensor error. Can anyone tell me if that sensor could cause this problem or is there something mechanical wrong with my trans. The fluid level is good and it does not smell burnt. We called hyundai there was a TSB for Powertrain Control Module (TCM).. We ended up replacing it in the end. Maybe somone here can look up TSB for that year. They said that the trans is shot. I am getting a second opinion tomorrow at a shop that some people have recommended. I do have a question for some of you guys though. I am looking into possibly getting a used transmission (it has a 1 year warranty on parts and labor). I wonder if that is a good way to go or not? If you really know what you're dealing with AND the quality of the product along with a warranty that will help or pay labor if it fails AND the price justifies it. More: You should be able to know lots about where a major new part came from and a history on it. If all lines up and a cooperating shop will do the work go for it.
