2005 durango 4 wheel drive shiftsin and out of 4 wheel drive with no keys in the car. It shifts by itself! help	Sign In

my 2005 dodge Durango/5.7 4x4 shifs into awd,4wheel but is not locked and 4wheel low with the keys out it shifts every 35 sec. Ive disconnected the battery and even baught a new one.it's very hard to get it back in awd the switch works sometime. I live on a very bumpy road. Has this happened to any one else.

Today when I opened the driver side door it shifted into awd No key in ign, help.

There is a computer called the Front Control Module (FCM). It is in charge of supplying and controlling power to various devices in the vehicle. It has other functions including controlling the 4 wd system. The ignition doesn't have to be on for the FCM to be alive.

You need to get the FCM scanned to see if there are any trouble codes in it. You'll need to take it to a shop that has a high end scan tool to access the FCM and other modules in the vehicle. They can also monitor the data stream and see what is going on inside it to get an idea how to troubleshoot it.
