2005 PT Cruiser transmission problem

Pulled out hit the gas and its like the car went into the passing gear then I immediately let off the gas. The check engine light started to blink. I gave it gas but it wouldn't go past 2nd gear. Would try to go into 3rd but it wouldn't and you could feel it jerking. So I pulled off the road and checked my transmission fluid and, it was ok. Got back in the car and it drove just like before with no problems. Also when you start the car when it is cool it makes a Strange Low-pitch Whine sound maybe in the power steering . 40,000 MI. Unhook the battery check engine light not came back on yet.

I'm not so sure this is a transmission problem. Engine management problems can cause erratic shifting. But, since you've disconnected the battery, any stored trouble codes are probably gone. If it happens again, or the check engine light comes on, have the codes retrieved and post them here before you buy any parts.
