2003 Lancer cluth broken?

I own a 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer ES. It's engine is 2.0l and it has about 76000 miles on it. While I was driving, I noticed out of nowhere that I would have to push the gas down farther in order to maintain a decent speed. As I was driving closer to my home, the car suddenly lose movement and the car just stopped moving period, while in gear. The car can run great, but it will not go. I am assuming that it is a clutch problem, so as such I have order a centerforce 1 clutch. If this is the problem, how would I go without replacing it. I live on a military post with an autoshop. I can replace it myself, but is there any manuals thatt would say how. It would save me hundreds of dollars to have another man, but is the risk so bad that I should have someone else do it?

This is not an average DIY friendly job. Lots of tools, equipment and know how are needed. Are you sure you want to take this on?

I am pretty sure that I could, but this is my only mode of transportation, and with me being in the military, I don't make that much with other bills I have to cover. It would take months to cover the cost of the vehicle. I want to do it myself, but I am afraid of permanently damaging the vehicle.

Ok: That link pretty well spells it out. If you have questions along the way just ask. You need the place to do this, the common tools and ability to borrow or buy a few special tools. Jacks, stands and the stuff to handle the mess.
You need the place and the available equipment or you could just get so far and find yourself with a vehicle you can't even move and no way out!
The best of instructions are based on a pretty well rounded understanding of the nuts and bolts of things. They don't detail how each fastener will work and count on you having the base know how.

Have you asked for a price to just get this done? Have you looked at the cost of parts known up front and plan on some extras. You will no doubt need a helper now and then too. What is available to you?

The place on post I planned on using has all tools available for use along with lifts for the vehicle. I also have a friend willing to help me. He is experienced in clutch work. I have gotten price quotes for my vehicle getting repaired, and it comes around to 1K to 1.5K. Thankfully my insurance will pay for the towing. I need my car as soon as possible, and getting that kind of money would take months to save up.
Also, I have looked at the link you have provided, and sadly, there was nothing for my Lancer, let alone Mitsubishi. How vast are the differences between domestic and import front-wheel drive vehicles.

Just looked myself and the link blocked the full info for this car. It would have suggested what has to move out of way first and more. It can't really be compared to another car even though the priciples would be similar the exact approach could be all different.
If you have a library check to a "view" only thru www.AllData.com and see if it looks like most others. Not sure if you can print from that.
If all else fails for the manual then check for a book or AllData should sell the program for about $25 bucks. I don't subscribe to a master edition for any more than general concepts of what you are in for. Much of the tech books are not to be copied but you might find stuff out there or perhaps someone from here but I don't have better for you for free. Sorry about that. If you are in a hurry to get going it would be worth the 25 bucks to have it at your beck and call for this,
