Hello, I am a 24yro female, my car knowledge is limited however I do know a little here and there. Anway i inherited my parents ford windstar 2002, roughly 150,000k on it. Just about a month ago we had heavy rain for a few days, the next morning I was driving and the van started to bog down, I would accelerate RPMS would rise but the van would just keep bogging and eventaully just died out. Lights stayed on but the van had no power and the wheel locked. I had 2 of the computers replaced my mechanic said the heavy rain had ruined them, torque converter, spark plugs, some wire? now again yesterday it rained heavily for almost 2days, i was driving and once i exited the highway the car boged down and died out, the wheel locked but the lights and radio remained on. I was able to coast off to the shoulder start the car but i had to continue to give it gas to get it going. it would bog and sputter for a 30 seconds and die out. it did this for over an hour. I was forced to drive it went for about a quater of a mile at about 10mph with the hazards on but i could barely touch the gas and the rpms were at 2. I would put the car in neutral coast and then tap the gas to continue moving I press the accelerator and it will not move it drive just keeps bogging and sputtering!!! please help me!

The steering would lock just to NO power assist when engine stalls which would be normal but not the stalling.

Moisture aggravates electrical things THAT are not sealed up well or greased at connections, OR weak parts mostly the higher voltage items that make spark but not limited to those.

It needs a comprehensive code reading that your mechanic may not have to find circuits by the code #s read to chase the trouble. Two "computers" doesn't totally jive with me - something hasn't been isolated yet.

Define heavy rain please? Almost all cars can handle heavy rains to a point of course. Do these flood the car inside, rust involved in body parts or what?
