I bought a 2002 Mercury Cougar 35th Anniversary Edition with the 2.5 V-6 engine and automatic transmission. The person I bought it from bought it new off the lot. He sold it to me because the transmission was "bad". (symptoms: it would go FORWARD in every gear but park, which holds it in place.) I did research online and spoke with MANY mechanics including the Ford motor company, all of which figured it needed a transmission. So, after weeks of looking I found the 2S8P-AA or AB tranny that it called for with 122k (car has 115k). I bought the transmission from Hernandez Auto Sales in Winston Salem NC. Had the transmission changed at the garage and now it won't pull out of it's tracks at all. When the car is on the lift the drivers side (left side) wheels will try to spin when it's in gear, when I put my foot on the wheel it will stop with very little pressure on the tire. So, before I had it replaced....the only issue was the car would move forward in all gears but park....now....it will not pull out of it's tracks. Fluid level is perfect (new fluid) axles etc look fine. I'm lost as to what the problem could be. My mechanic says the one I bought isn't any good and I got burnt. So, ANY help from ANYONE would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!! At this point my car is still on the lift at the garage and i'm waiting on the results from a scan from a guy who works at Ford Motor Company. Anyone.....??? PLEASE....... Thanks in advance!!!

You bought a used trans with almost the same miles as the blown one on your car. Surprise, its also junk and very well may be why that car ended up in the salvage yard in the first place. Next time get a rebuilt and you can have some expectation of success.
