I have a 2002 Ford F-350 7.3 Liter Powerstroke. I was at a car and truck show and I was doing a burn. The truck was doing great and then I stopped the truck and drove forward then got out for about five minutes then got back in and it would not move forward or backwards. I towed the truck home and I tour the transfer case apart how do I know for certain the transfer case is good or bad and if its good where do I go from here. Kind of in a bad way so any help will be good. Thanks

You won't like what you hear, but you came here for advice from professionals and will receive it. You put your truck in a burnout contest, which are cool to watch and diesels can really rip a good burnout. Now it doesn't move. You ripped apart your transfer case but have no clue what is bad or good, and can't put it back together properly much less inspect the parts for wear or failure analysis. I see no mention of any pressure tests done on the transmission prior to ripping up what is possibly a good t-case. Now this is going to get expensive. You likely smoked your trans with that burnout you did to a 10 year old unit. You will need to take your t-case to a geartrains builder and bring all the parts to see what is bad. Let him do the assembly and its going to be more expensive than if you had just given him the case whole from the start. I personally turn away jobs that come in boxes because someone else ripped it apart. You need the t-case installed before you can find out what happened. You need to isolate it to a trans or rear end issue. For future note don't rip open things you don't have tech info and knowledge about or you will be stranded and it will cost way more in the long run.

Hahaha................... Way to go fool. You're gone now. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Its my party and I'll cry if I want to. So close to the holiday season and I was holding out hope for at least one christmas card. Maybe next year. You have all the right in the world to tear up and cobble together anything you own. But when you have no clue what you are doing it makes no sense to do it. If you had bought a service manual for overhauling this that showed pics and exploded views, along with how to examine parts for reuse that would be smart. Going in blindly without the proper information or money to do it right is dumb. Don't shoot the messenger for having that pointed out to you. Good luck making that truck move again.
