2001 regal shifting hard when warm

My 2001 Buick Regal began shifting hard a while back. It only happens when warmed up, not when cold. Also it happens sometimes, not always. When it gets to the point that it shifts hard, it also makes a high pitched whining noise. It has also recently been making a noise all of the times that sounds like a wheel bearing. (I posted that in the making strange noises section!) The car has 130,000 miles and is fine besides these.
