Are you asking how to change the shift solenoid?
There are a lot of steps and warnings, so you really need to get hold of the service information procedures for lowering the transaxle to get access to the side cover. Your best bet is to try Alldata DIY.
Interesting, but it appears that Volvo is using a general motors 4T65E transmission?

first check connector as it is under battery and septible to corrosion check harness for varmit demage.
those little guys love wires. next drop lower pan check
for meterial in pan,and loose oil feed tubes.
side cover can be removed .remove axel shaft loosen sub frame lower trans to remove cover. its tight but can be done. i would sugest purchacing a solinoid kit.be sure to check internal harness for cracked wires

THANK U GUYS I STARTING TO WORK ON IT TOMORROW,THERE ANY WAY I CAN REMOVE THE COVER WITH OUT LOWERING THE TRANS,MY CAR DRIVES BUT DONT SHIFT STAY IN 1ST IT REVERSE,I WENT TO ADVANCE AUTO PARTS AND PUT IT TO SCAN I GOT P0751 P0756 SHIFT SOLENOID A AND B. THANKS EVERYBODY FOR THE INFORMATION ALSO THEY ARE NO BOOKS FOR THAT CAR LOOK EVERYWHERE NOT EVEN THE VOLVO DEALER. THANKS

I TRY TO GO TO ALLDATADIY LIKE U TELL ME BUT THEY DONT HAVE THE VOLVO ON THE LIST, CAN U TELL ME ANOTHER PLACE SO I CAN GET THE INFORMATION FOR THAT CAR, I AM DOING IT MY SELF, I DONT WANT TO MAKE ANY MISTAKES. THANK U FOR YOUR HELP.

I'm surprised that Alldata DIY doesn't have Volvo in their list. You could try Mitchell1diy, but I am not sure how much service information they have for the transmission in your car. You should contact them and ask.
It really wouldn't hurt to have a transmission specialist diagnose the problem. Then if you decide you want to take on the fix, you could. It might require a high end scan tool to do some diagnostic tests and experience in troubleshooting that transmission. Worst case scenario is it may need a complete tear down and inspection to see what is going on. Are you ready for that?

I'm fairly certain that Mitchelldiy has the service information procedure and steps for lowering the transmission to remove the side cover.

I checked both sites and Alldatadiy is not listing any Volvos but Mitchelldiy does show this vehicle

You also can buy factory service manuals from helm.com, but I will warn you that factory books are expensive. They may not even make a printed one for this, as Volvo has transitioned into an online service at their dealers. The employees at the dealers each have a login and the info comes directly from a secure site at Volvo headquarters. Even the semitrucks were like that ten years ago when I was working at a Mack and Volvo dealership.
