I just recently bought a used 1999 hyundai sonata gls v6 with about 137k on it but it has a new timing belt and water pump so i thought i was good to go and test drive offered no problems.
After about a week of driving it i started to notice that the car was having problems shifting. It wasnt downshifting properly, it was slow to accelerate after coming to a stop, and it was shuttering when shifting.
I took it to my local aamco and the told me my trans needed to be rebuilt. I financed the repair and had them do it. They replaced the torque converter and did a softparts overhaul.
Three days after getting it back from them the same problems started happening but the more i drove it the worse they got. Took it back to aamco again and they said that the torque converter they had put in failed. So they got one from the dealership and i took it home again. This time it only took about two hours for the same problems to start happening again but of sourse worse than the prior two times i had taken it in. At this point because its under warranty there i have to continue to take it back to them. I called them again to let them know of the problem still being there and they told me to bring it in monday and they will drive it with me so they can feel what the problem is. I feel like im not getting anywhere and nothing is getting fixed. I need to find out if theres any other opinions of what this problem may be because i feel like they have no idea and are just continuing to replace what they think is wrong. No check engine light has come on ever, but could this still be some sort of electrical or sensor issue??? please help!!

A sensor glitch would trigger a code and would give them a path to troubleshoot. You paid them for the work. You are under warranty. As much as it is a pain, they have the control here.
Please realize that chain shops like to short things to cut costs. They may have rebuilding tools but refuse to pay for diagnostic equipment that is expensive or be willing to pay the price in wages for proper techs.
Some cars have these hidden little bugs that are like herpes. Just when you figure all is good, BAM whatever happened in Vegas didn't stay there.
For now, you are at their mercy.

Transmission with herpes? That's a tough one. There are so many parts and pieces. They may be fixing the effect, but haven't figured out the cause. Hopefully they have someone that will sit down gather data, test computer controls, and isolate what is going on. Transmission problems can be a really big headache when it comes to diagnosing them. I'm sure every transmission tech has sat in the bathroom once and cried like a baby out of shear frustration. One insignificant little part can cause so many problems.

The check engine light isn't on, could it stil be a sensor. what are other possibilities if they already ran a comp diagnostics scan on it?
