I have a s10 with a five speed trsns.It will not go in gear when its running.But when i kill the engine it gors thru the gears like its brand new. Any suggestions?

Sounds like hydraulic clutch linkage isn't disengaging clutch as if you aren't pushing on pedal at all. Look for leaks or low at reservoir.
Should be normal and might show nothing but not work without leaking too. Watch parts move with a helper pushing pedal for clues then try to find where it doesn't make pressure to work if not, master goes to a line to rubber flex hose on to "slave" cylinder down at clutch to release it. If not released it wouldn't shift well or at all,
