1998 Ford Ranger Clutch Installation Issues Sign In

Hello, I have a 1998 Ford Ranger, 2.5, 2 wheel drive, manual transmission vehicle and I'm having quite the issue installing my clutch kit I recently purchased. I have the right parts and reinstalled the old dowel pins, followed the directions and I ran into an issue with the flywheel and the pressure plate. When my bolts are tight I have a ≈1/8" gap between the flywheel and the pressure plate. My clutch disk is fairly loose so that's not holding it back. I did not replace the original flywheel as it didn't appear to be significantly worn down. I thought that maybe it was just binding up on the dowel pins so I tightened some bolts past torque in effort to maybe free up the issue but one of my bolts sheared off. Just looking for some helpful nudge in the right direction here in regards to the pressure plate/flywheel issue because I have not even the slightest clue as to what's holding this up and creating the gap. Hope somebody can help me out here.
Thank you in advance.

-Tanner

I guess this is why some people fix cars with tools and some people fix cars with credit cards.

Obviously, something is either installed wrong or the parts are incorrect. We can't know what you have done there.

I understand, I'm just wondering if anybody would have an idea of what could be the issue from running into something similar is all. It's worth a shot at least, thank you for the reply!

You could try taking some pictures but without that we are forced to use the crystal ball.

Just make sure the pictures aren't too large and fit into this window.

I've never really run into this and since I can't see it, I can only toss out a couple of guesses...

1st you want to make sure you have the right kit.....Compare it to the old parts, very carefully...

If the kit is right, maybe the holes on the pressure plate aren't large enough and binding on the dowels or the dowels some how got damaged.....

The pressure plate should be flush on the flywheel
