1996 Chevy Blazer shifting problems

While I am in drive and driving down the road after I hit 30 Mph the Rpm's go shooting way up and the only way for the transmission to switch gears is to let up off the gas then it switches gears, but after that the gears won't shift after that. Once I get up to 40 Mph the the Rpm is around 3500 and stays there and I the Blazer doesn't want to get past 50 Mph(the Rpm's are around 4000 at that time) I just got the transmission flushed on Monday hoping that would do the trick but the problem persists. I have been noticing it for about a week now. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would begin with having the PCM scanned for codes and comparing sensor data to specifications or “normal” sensor readings. Not all transmission sensor or electrical faults will turn on the check engine light but may store a code in memory. Also only about 20% of electronic transmission problems will set a code but a sensor or electrical device that is out of specification will give you driveability issues.
So going to the local parts store too have the codes read may not tell you anything.
Take the truck into someone that is familiar with what “NORMAL” sensor readings should be and no there isn’t always a chart showing sensor ranges. At times it takes experience working on these issues to know what is normal.
