1995 Ford Crown Victoria Shift Problem Sign In

I have a 1995 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor. Just the other day my gear in my car shifted to the right. Which means that I have to put the car in the "R" to be parked and on "2" to drive. I was hoping I can wait until i get my next paycheck to fix the problem but it seems as it keep shift each day and I am worried I will reach the "1" to be able to drive and soon I won't be able to drive at all. This is my only transportation right now. Alot of my older friends that somewhat know about cars explain that the cable must of got worn out and I need to replace some bolts. Which shouldn't be that hard of a job. I don't really trust mechanic to look at my car because I know the second I take it to a mechanic I leave with a new problems. Anyone know how much this will cost me or if it a job I can do on my own? Should I replace this problem ASAP or what is the longest I can wait? Any suggestions on if I have to take it to a mechanic what to look for? I will greatly apprecaite the help.

More than likely the indicator string has come loose, or the guide for it has broken. If the shifter is sloppy, look under the dash where the cable bolts to the shifter and be sure the b=olots are tight. If they are tight, look at the indicator ion the dash

Being way2old is why I need help from younger minds
