1994 2500 chevy wont shift into first or reverse

OK here it goes, I bought a 1994 Chevy ext cab pick up 2500 model with factory motor and automatic transmission, when i bought it i thought i could fix it and i am having no luck. The transmission will not shift into first or reverse. you can put it into reverse and it seems to try to pull itself but it will not move. When you put it in neutral the truck will pull itself slightly but seems to be extremely slipping. When you put it in low gear it seems like neutral. I thought it was a linkage issue but i have adjusted it and it still don't work any ideas will help.

have you checked the driveshaft? if not my bet is on a blown tranny

The drive shaft is fine. I drive it on a daily basis. I just do not have low gear or reverse.

oh i misunderstood. different vehicles and different trannys i know but the same things happened with my car it would only go into first and reverse, tranny was blown. is your truck stuck in one gear i assume?

only thing i can think of is the gear for your low gear is the same as your reverse and it has gone out.

LOW/Revers clutch is done.

Yes or rebuild.. providing there is no internal damage to main components (just the clutchs). Should be pretty stright forward. Remember to back flush cooler to get and debris, metal out of the cooler if your installing your own used tranny. Also recommend installing a inline filter on the return to catch any metal that might be stuck in any rubber flex hoses.
