07 Honda CRV tranny vibrates at idle in gear

When coming to a stop, I feel like I'm fighting the engine. Holding it at the light, I can feel the engine vibrate as it struggles against the brakes. Letting go of the brake, the car pulls away faster than feels normal. Previous owner said this began to happen after she started towing a boat. I think it's a transmission sensor or solenoid, but which one. There's like 10 and they're not cheap. Help?

That's most likely bad motor mounts. Honda is notorious for that. If you replace them, be sure to use only genuine Honda mounts. That's important on that car. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

I have read numerous threads where people replace the mounts and the problem persists. I feel like I'm literally fighting the engine with the brakes every time I come to a stop. Isn't there a sensor that's supposed to tell the transmission to relieve the pressure when you're at stop? If I put it in Neutral, it stops. Also, I just replaced the engine in this car, and the mounts were not broken. In fact, they were the sturdiest, best built mounts I've seen on any car. They were in good shape.

No offense, but does anyone know anything about Honda automatic transmission operation?

Jeez man, I'm just trying to solve a problem that thousands of people have with their various cars, a problem that new motor mounts doesn't fix. I've done hours of research on this. If you drove the car or seen the mounts, you'd agree. Are you having a bad day Hammer? Forgive me if I somehow offended you, I value your expertise as you were crucial to helping me on a previous problem. Given the good results I had on this forum last time, I thought I'd try it again. I just want to ask a transmission knowledgeable person about how these things work.

You have no clue how many Honda motor mounts we change at this shop to correct that specific problem. There is nothing in the transmission that causes that. If the RPMs are holding and the truck isn't stalling, the transmission and torque converter have done their job. We volunteer our time to help people out but I'm not about to debate with anybody about the advice. You either take it or you don't. If you want to listen to all these DIYers posting on forums, then you go right ahead. I'll just move onto the next one.

Motor mounts may explain the vibration, but what about the fact that I seem to be fighting it. Is that just how automatic transmissions work? Isn't the tranny supposed to calm down and stop trying once you're stopped with your foot on the brake? I remember driving automatics that don't try to rip away from you when you release the brake. Also, I described the problem to the previous owner, and she said that it didn't used to do that. Would an 07 Honda really need new motor mounts already? I read quite a lot of 2013 hondas with 20k or less miles that have the same problem. Dealers replace the mounts and the problems persist.

The transmission doesn't push, the engine does. If the idle speeds holds correctly where it's supposed to, you don't have an engine or transmission problem.
