2005 Honda Civic Ex Special Edition Coupe AT, D17A2
Factory remanufactured transmission put in ~6 months ago, replaced IAT sensor ~3 months ago. No issues since.

Today I was driving home from work on the freeway (55F, light rain) and traffic had just cleared up a bit and I was cruising at 60mph. Noticed the guy directly next to me wanted in my lane so I accelerated to give him room and the car downshifted all the way 2nd - which was a bit surprising since I didn't think I put THAT much pedal into it - and reached about 6000rpm @ 65mph - so I let off slightly to allow it to shift, but instead it just stayed in gear even when I completely let off and started to pull to the shoulder. I quickly slowed down to an appropriate speed for 2nd and tested the throttle - still 2nd and no upshift (given I might not have sped up enough as I was worried, but it felt like it was still past its normal shift point). Reached the end of the offramp and stopped at the light, turned right, and suddenly everything is back to normal. 1st - 4th smooth as butter and no odd sounds, feeling, CELs, or anything. Off of the freeway I was only able to test up to 65mph, but had no issues. Checked fluids when I got home and all is well. What to check next? TCM? I thought it POSSIBLY went into limp mode but wouldn't it throw a CEL at some point? And gauges did not change, everything looked normal on dash and I was able to go above 3k rpm. And why'd it go back to normal just after just slowing to a stop, not turning off the engine? Obviously I'm confused. I have a warranty on the transmission with a local shop should I need it. Can't pull codes until tomorrow..if there is any.

Thanks for any help you can provide!

I don't know what you are planning in order to pull codes but you are going to need more than a generic code reader to access the TCM codes. You will need a professional level scan tool to be able to do that.
