I just replaced head gaskets shaved the heads,replaced lower upper intake gaskets. I put everything back together and here is my issue. Now on top of the trannie is a large plug, is this what controls the speedometer and possable the shifting of the trannie. That plug is for the solenoids, MVP sensor, and etc. inside the transmission. The VSS is located on the passenger's side of the transmission where the CV axle plugs into the transmission's final drive cover. If the PCM isn't seeing the VSS signal or the signal isn't correct, the transmission can't be shifted properly. This should be setting trouble codes for no VSS signal. You'll need a scan tool to monitor the engine datastream to see what the VSS PID is reading. Inspect your work. Make sure that everything is plugged in and your grounds are installed properly.
