just asking for opinnions. 1......ok, i recently bought a 94 toyo pickup base model, 2wd, 4cyl 22re shortbed..... the rear axle seal is leaking gear oil out on the brakes and down the inside wheel.....i am getting different advice.....some say the axle can be removed by removing the 4bolts behind the backing plate, remove the E-brake cable and pull the axle out with the bearing leaving the seal behind....then remove the old seal and replace with a new oil seal then reverse for the assembly...... 2.....some say the bearing needs to be " machine pressed" off the axle to replace the inner and outer seals then "press" the new bearing on...... here are a few links..... links deleted 2nd question deleted

OK, you have been around here long enough to know the rules and that you can't post links or multiple questions in one thread. FORUM RULES Both of those statements are correct........... Yes you can remove the axle assembly with the bearing on it Yes,there will be a replaceable seal in the housing Yes, there should be a second seal behind the bearing that requires pressing the bearing off which will have to be done anyway because your problem will be a bad bearing, not just a seal. The bearing is what ruined the seal most likely. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
