1999 Chevy Suburban upper control arm replace Sign In

I have the frame up on blocks and the tire removed so the wheel hangs free. I have also removed the brake line brackets. Here are my issues.
1. Upper right control arm bolt came out ok but the upper left bolt spins free for about 1/2 a turn then gets so tight I can't move it. Help?
2. Once the ball joint nut is off how does the arm come off ?
3. Do I need to worry about the spring?

Thanks
Carson

You can only spin the nut side. the other side should have a cam attached and the hole may not be elongated yet.

I wouldn't trust the shock to keep the spring from slamming the lower control arm to the ground and the spring popping out and kissing you on the face. If you have to ask that question, maybe you shouldn't be doing it. Might want to put something underneath the arm to support the lower control arm.

Thanks for the help!
I have the bolts out and the nut removed that holds the control arm to the wheel. How do I break that apart?

You need to separate it with a pickle fork but leave that nut attached by a few threads because that could release with tremendous force.

We are talking about the ball joint nut, right?
