Re: good tuneup rough a/c Idle Sign In

Questions:

Was this tune up just routine or for a specific problem?

Was the A/C touched at all when it was tuned up? Not normally part of a tune up to check A/C unless you requested that.

Is it ok if you don't use the A/C?

Does the A/C blow predicatably cool air for you now?

****************

The link of A/C and how the car runs is that it is an extra load that the engine must cope with AND it forces the fan underhood on when requested. You might notice slight loss of HP vs when not used but that's about it. Otherwise it's not part of the performance and smoothness of the running of the engine - NORMALLY.

It would be unusual for an '89 car to not have had something done to the A/C since new. Many would now be converted to use 134a (the current OE refrigerant nor new cars since switch year of 1993) by now - was it?

Not sure if the A/C is the source problem with this if it ran fine before tune-up and wasn't touched.

Please explain more on just what got you to this point so we can help or suggest what to do,

T
