2003 Chevy S10 Pickup, engine size 4.3 V6, 120,000 miles, I need to know how to seperate the radiator cooling fan shaft from the waterpump shaft after the four bolts are removed from the pulley, it doesn't seem to be like the old cars 4 bolts and the fan, pulley are removed..... I need answers i work in the morning.. Thanks Bro's

The fan clutch threads on to the waterpump. There is a special tool to remove it but if you have an air hammer with a long bit, that'll loosen it. It should have right handed threads on it

Right on the money Sidom! About the R or L handed threads. They did make some (Ford that I know of) reversed threads but I'm near sure this is regular.

What I've done when unsure is look hard at the new one! You can run a fingernail thru threads and know before this makes a mess. Yup - might take an air hammer to get it started to remove old one as said.

Also - can help to leave belt on just to get the first turn going,

You can easily tell the thread rotation by looking at the fan pitch and determining which way the fan rotates. The engine rotation will always tighten the fan, not loosen it.
