93 acura vigor,overheating with a/c on but not when heat is on,what is the answer?

When you ask for A/C the engine has an added load and the refrigerant is condensed/cooled in the condenser in front of the radiator which gives the radiator much warmer air to cool the engine. Asking for heat takes some of the load of getting rid of engine heat away from the radiator. Check that coolant is full and if not find out why. This could be that the radiator is inadequate from age/clogged a bit, or that fans don't work properly. Check those things first. Don't let the engine overheat as that will only make things worse, T
