I have a 2006 ford Mustang 4.0v6 58000 miles the ac will not work unless the coolant fans are on.and they go off when the fans go off.cant figure out any help would be helpful. thanks in advance

I take that, that A/C quits and fans shut off - right? Fans for condenser should be enabled when compressor is engaged. Some wait for high side pressure to build up and some just stay on while compressor is engaged without regard to engine coolant temp.
So far my guess is compressor is shutting down as a fail-safe getting info that pressures are not sensing that they are within perimeters of operation.
A beginning is to take pressures with it operating, compressor engaged at a raised RPM and post what you find and note the ambient temp along with vent temp would help. If this system has been worked on at all please state what was done and why,

when the tempture of the car gets hot enough to kick the electric fan on the ac will start blowing cold air. the compresor will not engage until the electic cooling fans are on when it cools the radiator down and the fans cut off the compresor cuts off also. its like the are wired together or something

No, that's not how it works. The A/C activates the fans, not the other way around. If the car is overheating, the computer will shut the A/C down on a Ford.

That one is a little complex to diagnose unless you have a scan tool that can access PCM datastream info. There also might be a datastream for the smart junction box if your scan tool has the ability to interface it. The PCM directly commands the ac clutch relay and fan relays.
So what happens in this maze of logic is the climate control module requests (pretty please) the ac clutch to be turned on. The request goes to the smart junction box which sends the ac clutch engagement request data to the PCM. Once the request gets to the PCM, the PCM looks at the pressure switches and other relevant inputs to be sure it is ok to turn the clutch relay on to engage the clutch on the compressor.
It really helps if you have scan data, bidirectional control, and a wiring diagram to troubleshoot this system if it happens to be an electrical fault. Cars are getting too high tech for DIY.
I'd start out by what Tom suggested in making sure the system has the correct charge weight. You'll have to take it to a shop that does ac work to verify the charge.
Keep the DIY top off cans and suicide gauges away from that car unless you don't mind really causing some expensive damage.

thanks for the advice the machanic was running down wires and unpluged the temp. sensor cleaned it and pluged it back and it started working. so i guess just had bad conection. thanks again for everyones help.

Thanks for the followup and glad for the success. Just glad nobody along the way just blasted more refrigerant into this aimlessly making a small problem a disaster!
