a/c blower motor Sign In

I have a 98 ford explorer, 2wd, 5.0 eng and need a a/c blower motor. Question is - what year models will fit a 98? I am going to salvage parts from other vehicles but don't want to waste time and mileage if it won't work. Thanks
Randy

You're going to go through all that for a $40 blower motor?

I have found several vehicles close by...easy to remove .... and I don't know about u, but $20-30 dollars saved is just that! If you have some $$ to waist, waist it my way.

Since when is a $20 difference from a new part to a boneyard part is a waste? You didn't save any money if you have to change it again in 6 months, not did you?

"Waist' and waste mean two totally different things.........

It's all good, some people like recycling used parts. If you can get your hands on a used factory motorcraft blower motor that works, your in the zone.

Yeah, the junkyard zone, where you just might get someone else's failure. I have no problem with boneyards in certain situations where there is a substantial savings and low risk. When you can buy a brand new blower motor for $40 or less, the savings is not worth the risk.

Salvage yard lotto.

I understand that, but some people don't think that way and like to use old parts cause they may score on a good part that will last them many years no matter what it may be.

They are stimulating salvage yard economics and putting shoes and food on salvage yard employee's tables. Have you seen some of the shoes those salvage yard employee's wear? They buy from the salvage yard and later either buy from them again because the part fails, or go ahead and get a new/reman part stimulating the economy even more. Remember that one thread in here somewhere someone got a fuel pump from the salvage yard...LOL.

Who knows that salvage yard blower motor may give him many years of service and the best blow job he has ever had in his life.
