I turned off the AC and it stopped moving but the serpentine belt was moving fine the whole time. When i took a closer look I tried turning the hub by hand and it was not smooth and there looked to be some metal shavings around the gap. Any advice would be appreciated. A few metal shavings will be found. Lots is a problem. The fact that you noticed smoke is more a sign that things aren't good! With system off the clutch is just a pulley and won't hurt anything. If and and struggling it's trouble and more info would be needed to diagnose on line. That car only has one belt and if it burns off you will be walking!
