Hey all,
I'm having a headache with 03 Toyota Echo, it has roughly around
We've changed practically every mechanical part in the system TWICE.
Compressor, condenser, expansion valve, dehydrator(this car doesn't have receiver/drier unit, it only has a bag of dehydrator), they're all aftermarket.
Every AC line is flushed with strong flushing chemical agent, did flush evaporator as well. (Did not replace evaporator.)
Hasn't changed any electric components as it seemed unnecessary.
AC manifold pressure is following;
-Low 45-50 PSI at idle, depressurizes when revving up, approx 30-40 PSI.
-High 200-210 PSI at idle, up to 250 PSI when revving up.
-Inside temperature is around 60F at idle, temperature goes down when revving up.
(*As far as I understand, if low side is high and high side is low, it's faulty compressor.)
At first the compressor was making some sort of metallic grinding noise, so we suspected faulty bearing or some sort.
Parts supplier sent us a new one, it's not making any noise but pressure it's generating indicates a faulty compressor.
(*The manufacturer of compressor is TAIQ, I do not know the reputation of this manufacturer's quality though.)
We had a dozen cars with AC issue this month, we weren't able to fix almost 2-3 of them.
One thing in common is the parts supplier, presumably those 2-3 cars had parts made by same manufacturer.
Judging by the AC manifold pressure, do you think we have a faulty compressor again?
This is driving us nuts, I need your professional advice.

Are these new or Reman compressors?
How much oil did you put in the system?
How much refrigerant did you charge it with?
What happens to the pressures if you mist the condenser with water at idle?
Is the Condenser fan pulling strong?
What temp will it hit on high blower while driving @ 40MPH?

As long as your positive your charging the system to the correct weight, I'd say compressor. It can't pull the low side down unless you spin it faster. It is not efficient enough probably due to poor quality. Our shop has had luck with Compressor Works and Global new not reman units.
Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
