I have a 2014 honda accord and the AC starts exactly after 10 minutes in the morning. After that it works normal and without any lags. Air blows from all vents and cold air starts after 10 minutes. Issue only happens when car is parked for more than 4-5 hours. Any expert advise Will be appreciated. I went to a shop doing free AC checkups Said need to replace the compressor as sassy clutch was not engaging. But has power. Not sure how it works fine exactly after 10-12 minutes every time. Seen this happen from last 3 years never had finances to get it fixed. Will freon recharge help ?

But how it works fine after 10 minutes. That shop was not able to answer this question. If clutch is not engaging then how come it works continuously for the whole day. Any idea? I dont have 1500$ to replace a compressor. Any tips for a work around will really help . Will freon recharge help ?

The magnetic coil is weak and after it gains some heat and the battery voltage increases, it engages the clutch. I would still get a second opinion and make sure they were right about it getting power and they didn't just say that to sell a compressor. If it is true, you may be able to replace the clutch only and keep the rest of the compressor. All it really would need is the coil itself, not even the whole clutch. Also, they may be able to adjust the air gap closer and get it to work. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

You don't necessarily have to go to the dealer but you do need a shop that is experienced in both AC repairs and electrical diagnosis. The cheapest is not always the best choice. If they don't know what they are doing they can cause you more problems than you have now.
