Hey, y'all. Long time.
I'm having trouble with my climate control, specifically the fan speed control. It only blows high. I had the climate control unit itself repaired and the repair guy told me to replace the Blower Motor Resitor. So i did, first with a Dorman, than with a motorcraft unit. It still only blows on high. It's getting hot here in Florida and I'm afraid yo run the a/c out of fear of shorting something out; like the chip that overheated due to a bad resistor in the first place. I checked the fuse even though if it were bad the fan wouldn't run to begin with. So what's my next move?

That's what I would have suggested, normally.
Not sure sport, own these basically and they will stay on high till temp inside knows it's cooled enough on anything request that's "auto" control.
Not sure of choices this could be you need to enable manual control of the switch for fan or maybe that switch isn't working stuck on forced high?
Another is if you block how it senses air temp you are confusing it. It's usually a tube carrying interior air from dash to low under dash,

Whether automatic or manually adjusting the fan speed it only works on high.

You say you replaced a blower resister. This car doesn't use a resister. It has a blower speed controller module although some parts stores may still call it a resister as it takes the place of the resister.
The Control head in the dash and the speed controller are the only two components that effect blower speed. If both were replaced, it only leaves the wiring connections in between but I'm thinking you didn't replace the correct part and the speed controller is a very common failure with these symptoms.
The speeds are controlled through the ground side of the circuit so the motor receives constant power. The speed controller is bypassed for high speed so that is why only that speed works.

The part that i used is a 19e624 out of a yh-1834 kit.

Yes, that is the correct module. Are you saying you did not use the new pigtail? They package that for a reason. The originals overheat from the high current flow and build up resistance over time and that causes problems.

The connector was the same between the dorman and motorcraft, just a different gauge of wire. Theres still a dorman harness on there because the splicing job that i did might make it a really close call if i use the harness that came with the motorcraft part. Nobody else seems to have this problem with the dorman unit amd harness.
If the harness is in fact the culprit what is the likelihood that I've done damage to the cc unit or the module after 60 or so seconds of use?

Are you sure it was wired correctly?
That's about the only possibility left here.
I tried to find a connector diagram for you but Alldata doesn't have one.

It is wired properly. I was able to confirm that since the motorcraft module came with a wiring diagram.

Maybe you got a bad speed controller then.
Something had to go wrong here.

Let's try this
1. Perform EATC On-Board Diagnostics. Record all error codes displayed during test.
2. If error codes appear during EATC On-Board Diagnostics, follow diagnosis procedures outlined for each code recorded.
3. If a condition exists but no error codes appear during the On-Board Diagnostics in Step 1, refer to Diagnosis When On-Board Diagnostics Indicates No Errors Found.
- The control assembly will detect electrical concerns occurring during the On-Board Diagnostics.
- Ensure that the engine is warm, at least 49°C (120°F) coolant temperature.
- To display the error codes for condition detection, initiate the On-Board Diagnostics by pushing OFF and FLOOR simultaneously and then AUTO within two seconds. The test may run as long as 20 seconds, during which time the display will be blank. If the display is blank for more than 20 seconds, go to EATC--When On-Board Diagnostics Indicates No Errors Found.
- The On-Board Diagnostics can be initiated at any time with the resulting error codes being displayed. Normal operation of the system stops when On-Board Diagnostics is activated. To exit the On-Board Diagnostics and restart the system, push the BLUE button. The On-Board Diagnostics should be deactivated before powering the system down. Refer to the Symptom Chart for an explanation of error codes.
NOTE: The in-vehicle temperature should be greater than 50°F (10°C) for all error codes shown to be valid.

That suggests you or a tech had that all apart, tested it to find that wasn't it?
I'm learning about this other way it can fail NONE did that I knew of.
What can go wrong is relays. One marked A/C underhood probably isn't for fan. I'd swap it with another just anyway see if other item works choose carefully or new are cheap from Ford Dealers or were.
Somehow now back the control head if that repair didn't work why didn't same person just do more or didn't know?
Hammer said the fan speed is how much ground it gets so use a DVOM on you new part and see if it does lose ground if you ask for lower fan speed - bet it doesn't.
I feel your pain with screwed up A/C at least if it's cool you can or should just alter temp desired request if too cold with fan on high for now. Most if hot enough out want all they can get.
This may be back to control head you said was fixed and didn't work out?? IDK, I don't do those wasn't so sure then could be messed with or seek another used or new if possible?
If nothing else please tell me/us - the world what fixed it,

The black wire at the speed controller, make sure that wire is grounded securely.

- Automatic temperature control sensor open or short.
While the temp control sensor could be related to automatic blower speed control, it should not prevent you from manually adjusting the blower speed so you are basically back to square one.
Did you check that ground on the black wire at the speed control module?

I didnt have time today. I had to remove my passenger seat, take out the motor for repair and bring it to a shop, and strip the top coat for refinishing. I'm refinishing my whole interior.
I'm gonna have to research how to check the wire and that's if theres anything on the web. If i follow that wire I'll eventually find it screwed to the body, yeah?

If you have a test light, attach the wire end to the POSITIVE battery post and then use the probe to test the wire. It will light with ground. You can check the test light hookup by just touching the engine or body with it.

No, the light has a wire with a clip at the end that you just clip onto the batter terminal and the light has a sharp probe that you can poke through the wire insulation or unplug it and contact it through the plug end.

? A know wire that should always be ground in dash? Don't be so sure it bolts to body as dash metal should already. I'd use the smallest pin and poke known wire (no guessing) and back feed a plain test light show it's in fact ground. Seal even that with either liquid electrical tape on a Q-Tip or interior stuff maybe black nail polish! Yes - if you have a Dollar Tree store dang stuff lasts, flexible a bit in all the assorted colors or just clear.
Sounds wrong but I used it for touch up paint and it outdoes the crap sold as touch up paint!
