Blower motor problems

3.4 v6
the blower motor on my heater/ac only turns on when i tap the motor itself with something ie hammer lightly each time i tap it itll turn a little faster after 2 or 3 times in a row itll be on high, itll work for a while then it starts blowing slower and slower till it stops and i have to go threw the whole process of hitting it again and thats the cycle.
now is this a motor problem or a resistor problem each will run me about $25 used or $75 new a peice money being tight id rather just buy one part and be done and not have to replace both if i dont have to.
any help would be great thank you

That sounds like a bad blower motor.
