A/c compressor removal on 2001 f windstar Sign In

Hi everyone I am new here and I got a few questions to ask..

My daughter boyfriend decided to add more Freon to the system with out a gauge and a few days later the compressor Locked Up and broke the belt. and seem fine except for it wasn't cooling enough.
2001
ford
Windstar
miles 149k
First question is: Did he add to much Freon to cause this.?

Second: I let the air out of valves and no fluid came out, just air and is there pressure in the hoses when I loosen the bracket up on the back of compressor will it have pressure..??

Any help will be helpful...

Yep, that fool just cost you some big money. That compressor has grenaded now and all the debris has contaminated the entire system. You are going to have to replace the compressor, condenser accumulator and orifice tube and then completely flush the rest of the system. Once up and running again, you will have to look for the original cause of the insufficient cooling, if there ever was a problem.

That's why those kits have the nickname "Death kits".

If you have to ask that question, you shouldn't be working on that ac system.
