A/C wont stay cool Sign In

The other day my bf decided to charge my a/c in my 2008 Chevy Uplander (which I don't think it needed) and now it wont stay cool. It does start to cool then it gets really warm. I've learned if I crack my windows it seems to cool better but once I close the windows it gets warm. I was told that it could have been overcharged but now my question is. if it is overcharged how can I fix it? I have 3 kids and live in Texas and its hot.. SmileThanks in advanvce..

That stupidity can lead to total destruction of your AC system that can cost you thousands to repair. What you need to do now is shut the system down totally and get to a reputable AC repair shop and have the refrigerant evacuated and recharged with the exact specified weight that the system requires. Overcharging a system will cause it to self destruct in a heartbeat, not to mention that the junk sold as DIY kits often contains additives to will do great harm to both the vehicle and the shop's recovery equipment.

mj: I know it's hot as all get out but don't even use it till this is evacuated and filled exactly. As HT said this could destroy the system! No joke and don't wait.

I watch the news and it's hot in many places even the Northeast, US right now.

OK - there have been some wild extremes so don't blame the vehicle if it can't freeze you out when it's extreme like that.

Don't wait and none of my biz but don't let bf touch your car!
