A/C problems 2007 Tahoe Sign In

I have a 2007 Chevy Tahoe LT, the flex fuel model. The problem i am having is in the A/C. Around town and local driving it works fine but as soon as I am on the road and driving for more than an hour to an hour and a half the A/C quits working. In particular the blower is working but little if any air is coming out of the vents and what does is not cold. If I shut the car off for 20 mins it will work for another hour or so. I find it interesting that I can turn the fan to high and you can hear the blower loudly but no air. I took it to Chevy and they said since there was no computer code showing a problem they could do nothing. I am thinking either a bad fan switch, bad blower, or heater core? Any thoughts would be appreciated. You can also respond to

It sounds like your evaporator is freezing over. I suspect that if you turn the A/C off for 15 minutes t will start working again. The most likely cause is a bad cycling switch that isn't shutting off at low pressure.

OK I will ask Chevy to look at that or is it something I can replace myself? Thank you very much for the reply and your thoughts on this.

It's pretty simple to change yourself. It just threads off and back on and doesn't require discharging the system because it uses a shrader valve. Just don't overtighten it because it is made of plastic. It would be a good idea to replace the O-ring that seals it when you put the new one on. Coat the O-ring with refrigerant oil before installing it.

Thank you for taking the time and to send the schematic, looks easy so I will give it a try. I will call the dealer tomorrow for the part because I doubt it is a auto parts part.

Yes, it should be readily available from any aftermarket parts store that sell A/C parts.
