My cars heater and A/C only seems to work on two levels. Well it turns off when you put it to off but it only comes on Full blast which on my cars dial is level 4. So levels 1, 2 and 3 don't do anything except allow for the vents to let in some air when driving at high speeds.1992 BMW 325i if this would help.

Do you think I need to replace just the dial unit or would I need to replace the blower as well. I really think that since the A/C and heater do supply hot and cold air that this problem doesn't extend that deep.

Most cars use a resistor located in heater box that can do that when they go bad. If someone here doesn't know exactly hit back - I'll be looking for the location and how hard they are to get at if I can find it,

I think I have the answer for you. You may need to hit me at home email to get to it. I'm better at fixing cars than running a computer. Tom

It's at another site and I don't want to step on toes here. It really is NOT a conflict with this one but I want to stay respectful of any site.

I have the same issue:
2001 Nissan Xterra - A/C only blows on highest levels, no blower on levels 1-3. AC works on lower levels, but little air blows out until setting 4.
Suggestions?

Most vehicles as mentioned use a resistor to control fan speed. It is frequently in the heater box. If you go to Nissan they may have a diagram of where it is.
