I have a 99 Oldsmobile Intrigue. About a year ago the AC started making crunching noises. At first I just dealt with it because the AC still blew out cool air and I didn't have much money to fix it (it was no longer under warranty). Gradually, the noises went from being annoying to unbearable. Unfortunately, it died about a month ago, just in time for the summer heat. It made this final, loud crunch sound and then wouldn't shoot out air at all anymore. I'm going to have to get it fixed, but I was wondering what might be causing the problem and what it'll set me back because I'm probably going to have to save up to get it fixed (Hooray for being poor!). I do know that it's not the coolant because when I put my hand up to the vent, it feels cool but the air won't shoot out. Any help would be great. Thanks.
